Dan Pollock

Founder and Principal Consultant. Dan helps scholarly and professional publishing organisations to address the strategic challenges facing them in our changing world. His unique combination of commercial and technical experience means he can help organisations understand what the relentless development of new technology really means for them without losing sight of their strategic imperatives. He offers practical, insightful and accessible advice to business leaders looking to add value to their operations.

His background includes executive leadership and strategic advisory roles, M&A work, and senior positions managing products, operations and change in organisations ranging from startups to complex non-profits and commercial corporations. Over the last 25 years, he has worked with some the world’s most established media companies and brands, including RELX (Elsevier, LexisNexis, The Lancet), Springer Nature (Macmillan, Nature Publishing Group, Nature), Outsell Inc. and Jordan Publishing (Family Law, Jordans). He has consulted for many other leading scientific and legal publishers. He holds a Masters in Manufacturing Engineering from Cambridge University.

Grace Baynes

Senior Consultant. Grace has Over 20 years in academic publishing, and has been involved in open research since 2003. A highly-regarded expert in scholarly publising, she has held senior positions working for some of the leading brands in scholarly publishing, including Nature, Scientific American, Elsevier, Springer Nature and Macmillan Publishers.

Her broad publishing experience includes new product development, general management, publishing, operations, editorial, policy, marketing, communications and social media.
